Watch the Trailer for Aoife McArdle's 'Kissing Candice'

Over the last ten or so years, Irish director Aoife McArdle has become a tour de force in the world of moving pictures. She has directed music videos for the likes of Jon Hopkins, James Vincent McMorrow, and more recently U2, for whom she directed a short film coinciding with their album ‘Every Breaking Wave’. The short was subsequently nominated for Best International Music Video at the UK Music Video Awards in 2015. On top of this, she has directed a collection of commercials, including that infamous Audi ad that stole the show at last year’s Super Bowl. Undoubtedly McArdle is an artist of extreme talent, drive, and vision, and now we’ve got out first look at her next endeavour.

‘Kissing Candice’ is McArdle’s debut feature film. The film follows a group Irish teenagers living on the Irish border, in the wake of the death of a local boy. In an interview with i-D McArdle explained that “It’s experienced through the subjective eyes of an imaginative teenage girl, so the film slips between reality and fantasy like one big fever dream”. The film will be premiering at the Toronto Film Festival on the 9th of September, and we can’t wait for its release over here. In the meantime, watch the trailer above.
